H.E.A.L. for Work

A free employment program for survivors of violence and trauma getting into the labour market

Build the life and career you want with the H.E.A.L. for Work program, a free, six‑week hybrid program that supports women and men who are survivors of violence and trauma. We will help you build confidence, develop skills and move toward meaningful employment.

What does H.E.A.L. stand for? Hope. Empowerment. Adaptability. Learning.

Through a trauma‑informed and client‑centered approach, you will receive employability and life skills training, psycho‑educational workshops and personalized career counselling. With a blend of group learning, one‑on‑one coaching and wraparound supports, you will be supported to strengthen employment readiness, explore career pathways and improve your overall quality of life.

We take an empowerment approach to career services for survivors of violence or trauma.

The program offers:

  • Tuition fee support
  • Group workshops and one-on-one coaching (life and employability skills)
  • Free occupational skills training as needed
  • Individualized counselling as needed
  • Transportation allowance
  • Wraparound supports tailored to individual needs
  • Completion bonuses!

Who is eligible?

You may be eligible for the free H.E.A.L. for Work program if you are:

  • A woman or man who has experienced violence or trauma
  • Facing multiple barriers to employment, including mental health or substance use challenges
  • Unemployed or working fewer than 20 hours per week
  • A Canadian citizen, permanent resident or protected person authorized to work in Canada
  • Have proficient English language skills (CLB Level 5 or higher)

The program is offered in English in separate cohorts for women and men.
