New DIVERSEtalks podcast episode, “Mental Health in Canada,” out now!

In this episode of DIVERSEtalks, DIVERSEcity host Ria Renouf sits down with Parmvir Singh Boparai, a Registered Clinical Counsellor with DIVERSEcity and the owner of Atlas Counselling.

With more than a decade of experience supporting individuals and families through anxiety, grief, and cultural transitions, Parm brings both professional expertise and deep empathy to the conversation around mental health in Canada.

Together, they explore the rise of mental health concerns across the country — especially among youth, newcomers, and racialized communities — and unpack the cultural factors that can shape how people experience and express mental health challenges. Parm highlights why culturally informed counselling is so essential, and how services like those at DIVERSEcity are helping bridge gaps between mainstream mental health systems and the diverse communities they serve. They also discuss practical ways families can strengthen understanding across generations, and what’s needed to create more compassionate, accessible spaces for healing and resilience in Canada’s multicultural society.
