DIVERSEcity’s Director Lenya Wilks and Board Chair Kam Raman Named Finalists for YWCA Women of Distinction Awards

This year’s finalists for the YWCA Women of Distinction Awards have been announced, and we aren’t surprised that DIVERSEcity’s own Lenya Wilks is among this formidable group of women in the non-profit category.

As Director of Community Inclusion, Health and Equity, Lenya leads transformative initiatives that strengthen newcomer integration, champion mental health, support gender-based violence survivors and empower organizations across BC and Yukon. Her work has been recognized through numerous awards including being named one of Canada’s top 100 Black Women to Watch in 2024 and a Top 25 Canadian Immigrant in 2025.

Congratulations go not only to Lenya, but also to DIVERSEcity Board Chair Kam Raman! As Regional Head, Retail Markets at RBC, Kam was named a finalist in the Business & the Professions category. Her leadership at RBC has enhanced workplace inclusivity including the percentage of women and racialized people in executive roles.

At DIVERSEcity, we are true beneficiaries of the leadership, innovation and dedication that Lenya and Kam offer into the world.

DIVERSEcity’s Board Chair Kam Raman, Director Lenya Wilks, CEO Neelam Sahota and Angie Lamarsh, Head of Sustainability, Personal and Commercial Banking, RBC, a finalist in the Environmental Sustainability category.

With International Women’s Day around the corner, congratulations go to them and all the other finalists in this year’s awards (including RBC’s Angie Lamarsh in photo with Kam, Lenya and Neelam) as well as to YWCA BC for an inspiring program that honours extraordinary women leaders.

Yes, seeing change inspires change!
