Announcing the DIVERSEcity Board of Directors for 2025–2026
DIVERSEcity Community Resources Society is pleased to announce the election of the Board of Directors for 2025–2026 at its 47th Annual General Meeting on September 24, 2025, in Surrey, BC.

Thank you to all our ongoing board members, Kam, Jason, Sonia and James, for your continued dedication and volunteer service to DIVERSEcity, and a warm welcome to our three new board members, Jenson, Amy and Kiran. We look forward to working together to make a difference for people and communities, guided by DIVERSEcity’s Strategic Plan 2024–2029.
A special thank you goes to outgoing Chair Upkar Singh Tatlay for your six years of service and leadership, which strengthened DIVERSEcity’s growth and impact in countless ways. As well, we would like to thank former director Amy Gill for your dedication and passion in serving the community. Lastly, with heartfelt gratitude, we would like to acknowledge the immeasurable contributions of the late Susan Wells, whose legacy, impact and courage will continue to be felt on DIVERSEcity’s board and organization for years to come. DIVERSEcity’s 2025–2026 Board of Directors
Kam K. Raman
Chair
Kam K. Raman, ICD.D., MBA, is currently the Vice President, RBC Commercial Financial Services specializing in public sector, non-profit and business professional services in British Columbia. She began her career in the credit union system and brings more than 25 years of progressive experience in senior leadership roles. Kam joined RBC in March 2020 as a Senior Leadership Intern and quickly became BC’s first Director, Diversity and Inclusion. Kam is passionate about community and also serves on the board for BGC Canada and is a Finance and Audit committee member with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC. She has been active with the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade where she chaired the Communications Committee with the Women’s Leadership Council. She has also served as a Public Director with the BC Real Estate Association and as co-Chair with Minerva’s “Learning to Lead” program focused on advancing women in the workplace. Throughout, she has been consistently recognized for her business acumen, communication, collaboration and leadership abilities. She has always been committed to fostering a culture of diversity and inclusion for clients, employees and the community.
Jason Wong
Vice-chair
Jason Wong, asecond-generation Chinese Canadian, runs a successful business in Surrey, the award-winning Beta Collective. The collaborative workspace Beta has not only helped more than 100 startups and non-profit organizations get their own start since 2014, but has motivated him to pursue other shared economy ventures, most recently a commissary kitchen for small-scale food producers in Burnaby called YVR Prep. Jason is also very active as a volunteer, including as a a board member at the BC Small Business Roundtable, a director of the Burnaby Board of Trade and a co-founder of the CoworkingBC Society.
Sonia Parmar
Secretary and Treasurer
Sonia Parmar, CPA, CGA, TEP, is a partner at David Pel & Company, a growing local accounting office located in Central City Surrey, where she advises clients on corporate and personal estate and succession planning, all the while ensuring clients have met their reporting needs. Sonia has always surrounded herself with mentors that believe in giving back to the community, inspiring her involvement with DIVERSEcity as well as other foundations and community boards, such as SurreyCares Community Foundation and Symington Symbiotic Foundation.
Jenson Leung is a lawyer practising employment law, labour law, disability law and civil litigation with an interest in privacy law, AI and their impacts on the workplace. Jenson has experience in the areas of employment law, insurance defence, regulatory law and civil litigation. Throughout the years, Jenson has volunteered with various organizations including as board member for the Wildlife Rescue Association of BC and a committee member for the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers (BC).
Amy Gill-Sidhu
Director at large
Amy Gill-Sidhu brings over 20 years of experience in HR from both private and public sectors across the Lower Mainland. Currently, she is the Executive Director, Talent Strategy & People Services, at Fraser Health, serving nearly 50,000 staff and medical staff. Amy’s success has been driven by her curiosity, openness to leveraging technology and streamlining processes so it works on the ground for her operational partners. She is the daughter of immigrant parents and has seen firsthand what a life built through the support of a strong community can look like, and the magic it can contribute to, for bright futures.
Kiran Kooner
Director at large
Kiran Kooner, MPP, is a senior executive leader with over 15 years of experience in public policy, labour relations and community development. As the Executive Director of one of BC’s largest union organizations, the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) BC Division, she leads the organization, overseeing daily operations, financial stewardship and works extensively with the Executive Board to ensure alignment with strategic priorities and policy governance. Kiran immigrated to Canada in 1990 and has lived in Surrey for over three decades. Her combined lived experience and professional background reflect a longstanding commitment to inclusive, community-centred work.
James Delorme
Special Advisor to the Board
James Delorme us an Indigenous digital and social disrupter. As former Chief of Klahoose First Nation, he uses his leadership experiences with the guiding principles of Indigenous knowledge and cultural safety and humility to serve First Nations, Indigenous communities, governments and the private sector on economic and social projects alike. James is the CEO of the Indigenous Infrastructure Fund Corporation and also proudly serves on the TELUS Indigenous Advisory Council.
