Sponsored by Western Community College, the Youth Leadership Award is awarded to a rising star (19–30) who showcases leadership and courage in their journey, while inspiring others to do the same.
This year’s award goes to Stephanie Quon. At just 15 years old, Stephanie founded the Sprouts Initiative, a youth-led organization that has now grown to 27 countries and reached more than a million people worldwide. What began as a small idea rooted in kindness has blossomed into a global movement for community impact and accessibility.
Now a UBC medical student, Stephanie continues to lead with purpose — championing accessibility, mental health and equity in health care. She has spearheaded more than 95 accessibility projects across Canada, securing $1.82 million in grants to retrofit community spaces, clinics, and schools with ramps, tactile signage, automatic doors, and sensory-friendly rooms.
“This recognition means so much because it reflects not only my journey, but the strength of the communities around me,” Stephanie said upon accepting the award. “Thank you to DIVERSEcity for believing in the power of youth leadership. I accept this award with gratitude and a commitment to continue this work.”
Through her vision and heart, Stephanie reminds us that change does not wait for adulthood — it begins with the courage to care and the belief that even the smallest acts can transform lives.
Stephen Andrada of Western Community College presented the award to Stephanie alongside DIVERSEcity Board Director Amy Gill-Sidhu and Neelam Sahota, CEO, at the 2025 DIVERSEcity Awards of Impact.
