At DIVERSEcity’s 2025 AGM and Awards of Impact, community champions were celebrated for creating meaningful change across Surrey. Among them, the Food Justice Advocate Award, sponsored by the Surrey Fire Fighters’ Charitable Society, recognized those leading the way toward greater food equity and community care.
This year’s recipient, Kingdom Acts Foundation, embodies that vision.
Guided by founder Godwin Ude, the organization blends compassion with systemic impact — providing culturally appropriate food programs that nourish both body and spirit. Their initiatives serve thousands of BIPOC, newcomer and low-income families across Surrey, ensuring access to nutritious food in spaces that honour dignity and belonging.
“This award is for our hundreds of volunteers who work hard every day,” said Godwin. “The only day we don’t work is December 25. We provide nutritious food in a dignified space, where families — including children and seniors — come not just for food, but for connection, community and growth.”
The organization’s model represents food justice in action — addressing hunger while also tackling inequity and isolation. By creating spaces rooted in care, Kingdom Acts Foundation transforms the act of receiving food into an experience of empowerment and shared humanity.
Kingdom Acts Foundation’s ongoing presence in Surrey neighbourhoods and the Lower Mainland reminds us that access to food should never be a privilege — it is a right built on respect, community and justice.
